The operating system on the iPhone 16e includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, Mail Privacy Protection, the ability to block app tracking, and cross-site tracking prevention. Notification handling is flexible, with customizable notifications, notification permissions, and focus modes available, while split screen and an extra dim mode are not supported. The device receives direct OS updates from the vendor, supports on-device machine learning, Live Text, full-page screenshots, SharePlay, Picture-in-Picture, AirPlay, widgets, sharing intents, Wi-Fi password sharing, a media picker, and a child lock. The iPhone 16e houses a non-removable rechargeable battery rated at 3961 mAh, with a quoted battery life of 26 hours and a built-in battery level indicator. It supports 27W wired fast charging as well as wireless charging at 7.5W, though reverse wireless charging is not available. No charger is included in the box.

The iPhone 16e features stereo speakers and a dual-microphone setup, but does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack or a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the Bluetooth codec extensions — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.
