The Asus ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi is built around a single AM5 socket and is compatible with the B850 chipset, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm × 244 mm. It does not include an integrated CPU or integrated graphics. The board features built-in Wi-Fi spanning Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), along with Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX audio codec support is not included. Video output is provided via an HDMI 2.1 connection, and the board supports easy overclocking as well as straightforward BIOS resets through a dedicated clear CMOS feature. A dual BIOS configuration adds firmware redundancy, and RGB lighting is present onboard. The warranty period covers three years.
This motherboard supports DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 192GB. Overclocked RAM speeds can reach up to 8000 MHz, offering headroom for high-frequency memory kits. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel provides a varied USB selection, including two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port, alongside four USB 2.0 ports. There are no USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, eSATA, PS/2, or USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports present. For display output, the board includes an HDMI port and one DisplayPort output, while VGA and DVI connectors are absent. Network connectivity is handled by a single RJ45 ethernet port.
Internal connectivity includes four M.2 sockets for NVMe or SATA-based drives, along with two SATA 3 connectors for traditional storage devices; there are no SATA 2, mSATA, or U.2 sockets present. For USB expansion via headers, the board offers two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two additional USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and four USB 2.0 ports. Cooling is supported through six fan headers, and there is no TPM connector on this board.
The board provides two full-length PCIe expansion slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. There are no PCIe 3.0, PCIe 2.0, PCIe x8, PCIe x4, PCIe x1, or legacy PCI slots available.
The onboard audio solution supports 7.1-channel output and delivers a DAC signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, indicating a clean analog output signal. Two audio connectors are available on the rear panel, and an S/PDIF Out port is included for digital audio passthrough to external receivers or DACs.
The board supports four RAID configurations: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10 (1+0), covering a range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
