The MSI Pro B850M-A Wi-Fi PZ is built around the AM5 socket with the B850 chipset and comes in a Micro-ATX form factor measuring 243.8 × 243.8 mm, making it a compact option for AM5-compatible processors. It features Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with backward compatibility across Wi-Fi 4 through 6E, alongside Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX audio codec support is not included. The board provides an HDMI 2.1 output, supports easy overclocking, and includes RGB lighting as well as a convenient BIOS reset option. It does not have dual BIOS, integrated graphics, or an integrated CPU, and accommodates a single processor socket. The warranty period covers three years.
This board uses DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, supporting a maximum capacity of 256GB. The standard rated speed tops out at 5600 MHz, while overclocking headroom extends to 8200 MHz for users who want to push performance further. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O includes a total of eight USB ports: three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, with no USB 2.0, Gen 1 Type-C, Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt, or legacy PS/2 ports present. Video output is handled by an HDMI port and one DisplayPort, while VGA and DVI outputs are absent. Networking is covered by a single RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA connections available.
Internal connectivity includes two M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage, with no SATA 2, mSATA, or U.2 sockets available. For USB expansion via headers, the board provides four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, while Gen 2 and Gen 2x2 expansion headers are absent. A TPM connector is present, and five fan headers are available for cooling management.
The board features one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot as the primary expansion slot, along with one PCIe x4 slot and two PCIe x1 slots for additional cards. There are no PCIe 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 x16 slots, no PCIe x8 slots, and no legacy PCI slots.
Audio support extends to 7.1 channels, with three analog connectors available on the rear panel. There is no S/PDIF Out port included.
The board supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 configurations, covering common use cases for both performance and redundancy. RAID 5 and RAID 0+1 are not supported.
