The Gigabyte B850 Aorus Stealth Ice is built around the AM5 CPU socket and is compatible with the B850 chipset, arriving in a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm wide and 244 mm tall. It supports a single CPU socket and does not include an integrated CPU or integrated graphics. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), complemented by Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX is not supported. Video output is handled through an HDMI 2.1 port, while overclocking is noted as straightforward. The board includes RGB lighting and a dual BIOS setup for added resilience, although a dedicated clear CMOS button for easy BIOS reset is not present. It carries a three-year warranty.
This motherboard supports DDR5 memory across four slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 256 GB. The standard RAM speed ceiling sits at 5200 MHz, while overclocked profiles can push that figure up to 8200 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a solid spread of USB connectivity, including two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and four USB 2.0 ports. There are no USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports present. Video output is provided through a single HDMI port, while DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA outputs are absent. One RJ45 port handles wired networking, and legacy PS/2 and eSATA ports are not included.
For internal expansion, the board provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, two USB 3.0 headers, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 header, and four USB 2.0 headers, allowing front-panel and add-in connectivity to be built out flexibly. Four M.2 sockets are available for NVMe or SATA-based storage drives, alongside two SATA 3 connectors; there are no SATA 2 connectors, U.2 sockets, or mSATA connector. Cooling is well catered for with eight fan headers spread across the board, and a TPM connector is also present for security module installation.
The expansion slot layout is straightforward, centered on a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot as the primary option for discrete graphics or other high-bandwidth cards, paired with one PCIe x4 slot for additional add-in cards. No PCIe 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 x16 slots are present, and there are no PCIe x1, PCIe x8, or legacy PCI slots on the board.
The onboard audio solution supports 7.1-channel output and delivers a DAC signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, indicating a clean audio signal for both music and home theater use cases. Two analog audio connectors are provided on the rear panel, and an S/PDIF Out port is also present for digital audio passthrough to external receivers or DACs.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 (1+0) configurations, covering a range of performance and redundancy needs for multi-drive setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
