The Gigabyte B850 Gaming X WiFi6E uses the AM5 CPU socket and is compatible with the B850 chipset, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm wide and 244 mm tall. It supports a full range of wireless standards through its built-in Wi-Fi, covering Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax), and includes Bluetooth 5.3, though aptX is not supported. The board features HDMI 2.1 output, RGB lighting, and a dual BIOS for firmware redundancy, and it is designed to support overclocking. It does not include integrated graphics or an integrated CPU, and BIOS reset via a dedicated clear CMOS button is not available. A three-year warranty is included.
The board supports DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 256GB. Standard RAM speeds reach up to 5200 MHz, while overclocking can push that figure to 8200 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a varied USB selection, including one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and three USB 2.0 ports; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 ports. Video output is handled by one HDMI port and one DisplayPort, with no DVI or VGA connectors present. Networking is covered by a single RJ45 port, and a legacy PS/2 port is also included for compatible peripherals.
For internal connectivity, the board provides three M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage, while SATA 2 and U.2 sockets are absent, and there is no mSATA connector. USB expansion headers include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, and four USB 2.0 ports, all accessible through internal headers. Cooling is supported by six fan headers, and a TPM connector is present for security module installation.
The board features one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot as its primary expansion slot, along with two PCIe x1 slots for additional cards. There are no PCIe 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 x16 slots, and no PCIe x4, x8, or legacy PCI slots are present.
The board's audio implementation supports 7.1 surround sound and provides three analog audio connectors on the rear I/O. An S/PDIF output is not included.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 (1+0) configurations, covering a range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
