The Shokz OpenFit 2 feature an open-ear fit, sitting outside the ear canal without creating a seal, and include wingtips to help keep them in place during use. They are fully wireless with no cables or neckband, and stereo speakers are built in. Weighing just 18.8 g, the earbuds are rated IP55, meaning they offer protection against dust and water splashing from any direction, making them water resistant for everyday activities. RGB lighting, a UV light, and a display are not part of the design.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 use a 17.3 mm driver and cover a frequency range of 50 Hz to 16,000 Hz, with a sound pressure level of 96.5 dB/mW. They do not include active noise cancellation or passive noise reduction, which is consistent with their open-ear design. Spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, and Dirac Virtuo are not supported, and the drivers do not use a neodymium magnet.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 carry a 56 mAh rechargeable battery that delivers 11 hours of playback on a single charge, while the 600 mAh charging case extends the total to 37 hours. A full charge takes one hour, and a battery level indicator is included to keep track of remaining power. Wireless charging and solar charging are not supported.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 with a maximum range of 10 m, and support the AAC codec for audio transmission. Charging is handled through a USB Type-C port. Fast pairing and NFC pairing are not available, and the earbuds do not support LDAC, LDHC, Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast, or any variant of aptX, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, or aptX Voice.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 support multipoint connection with up to two devices simultaneously and can be used as a headset for calls, with a mute function available during use. Controls are placed on the device itself rather than an in-line panel, and voice prompts are included. Fast charging is supported, and a find-device feature helps locate the earbuds when misplaced. A travel bag is included in the box. Ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection, notification reading, a body temperature sensor, and a camera remote shutter function are not available.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 are equipped with four microphones that include noise-canceling capability, helping to reduce unwanted background sound during calls. Microphone sensitivity is rated at -38 dBV/Pa.
